At Copper Pearl, we celebrate the incredible journey of parenting by sharing heartfelt stories and valuable insight from our amazing community. Each week, we dive into the unique experiences and memorable moments that make up the beautiful mosaic of parenthood. Through these stories, we gather and share precious “Parenting Pearls” - those little gems of wisdom that offer inspiration, support, and a touch of magic to fellow parents.
Tell us a bit about yourself and your family.
Hi, I’m Lindsey! My husband, 1 year old boy, & I all live just outside of Sacramento, CA with our Shiba Inu (Somi). We love swimming, hiking, going for walks, and park days. Our 1 year old is a huge fan of story time and lovvvves being read to. We work from home as full-time podcasters which has been a blessing especially this past year.
Which Copper Pearl products are your go-tos?
We love the many uses for the multiuse cover and the swaddles. Even though our son isn’t swaddled anymore we still use his old swaddles as nursing covers or for a lightweight blanket when we’re out for a walk. But my absolute favorite Copper Pearl product is the baby pants. Our son is tall but thin and it’s always difficult finding pants that are long enough that don’t fall down. The pants are absolutely amazing and I’m hoping to see them in more and more prints and colors.
What has been the most memorable moment in your parenting journey so far?
Our first time bringing our son camping. While he won’t remember it, we had such a fantastic time and loved how much he enjoyed being out of the house and in nature for a couple days without the distractions of toys or screens or general neighborhood noise.
Lindsey’s Parenting Pearl:
Someone told me that on nights that are really difficult and my baby is up and crying, to imagine that I’m from the future and went back in time and am getting to hold and comfort my son while he was that little again. I used that a lot. While moments may feel tough these are times that I will look back on and miss.
What is your favorite parenting hack?
Prioritize your mental health. Make sure to do something just for you. For me, that was joining a cycling gym and getting out of the house for a few hours a week. I often bring him with and let him play with the other kids there so he gets socialization while I get a 45 minute mental break. You can’t be an effective parent if you’re not taking care of your mental health. When you’re not in a tired mom daze everything feels easier.
How do you find support and community in your parenting journey?
Mom walks! I also help run a mom group that meets once a month and talks about parenting, pregnancy, etc. It’s always helpful to hear from other people actively going through similar things.
