Part of our greatest joy in running Copper Pearl is getting to be a part of your pregnancy and parenthood journey. But we also know that, for many couples, the journey is not easy.
As 1 in 8 couples have trouble getting pregnant, and 10-20% of pregnancies end in miscarriage, these particular kinds of heartbreak are more common than talked about. While the struggle of infertility or tragedy of losing a baby is never forgotten, for many, the story can end in the joy of a rainbow baby!
What is a rainbow baby?
Just like a rainbow represents hope and light after rain and darkness, rainbow babies - a baby born or adopted after infertility, miscarriage, stillbirth or infant death - are a symbol of hope.
Of course, having another child doesn’t suddenly fix everything. Adoption is often a long and difficult road. And losing a baby is a hard time full of feelings of grief, anger and even guilt. While getting pregnant again is exciting, it can also dredge back up some of these emotions from the loss, not to mention the fear of another miscarriage.
Healing is a journey, and it looks different for everyone. From overwhelming happiness to mixed feelings of relief and sadness, every rainbow parent has their own story from pain to acceptance to joy.
