Celebrating Nine Years of Copper Pearl: The Story Behind the Brand

In the world of baby accessories, few names resonate with the same charm and quality as Copper Pearl.  As we celebrate Copper Pearl’s ninth birthday, let’s take a moment to delve into the journey of our owners, Tyler and Anne Hillstead.  We wouldn’t be here without them!  Plus, stay tuned for an exclusive sneak peek at some exciting upcoming products that will soon be joining the Copper Pearl family!

What inspires you about Copper Pearl?

We started out as customers of Copper Pearl. Our first purchase was the Grace swaddle blanket that Tyler bought for our youngest daughter Jane. We took the swaddle to church with us and several friends asked where we got the beautiful blanket. Then Jane was wrapped in the swaddle at the grocery store and several people in line commented on how beautiful our baby girl looked in that pretty swaddle. To top it off, Anne’s friend came over and helped her with some laundry and got to the Grace swaddle – and said, “I can’t believe how high quality and stretchy this beautiful blanket is – where did you get it?” … then we knew that Copper Pearl was different and something special. We know from the reviews you’ve left that many of you have had similar reactions from friends and family. Copper Pearl won us over as customers before we decided to acquire the brand from its founders. So in short – the products of Copper Pearl – inspire us because they are functional and aesthetically pleasing. They make this journey we call parenthood easier and more enjoyable!

What were some of the initial challenges you faced in owning a business?

When we first started, we were dealing with a lot of items that were out-of-stock. The main priority for us as owners was to grow our manufacturing capacity and provide more product lines so that customers could enjoy more product lines from usand fix our out-of-stock issues. We also wanted to make Copper Pearl a brand that was easy to do business with so we implemented new systems, processes, hired new team members and took our warehouse fulfillment operation in-house so that we could provide the best brand experience for you – our loyal customers!

What core values guide Copper Pearl’s business practices?

We have always wanted Copper Pearl to be a brand that supports family life.  We feel like our products are great quality, fun to use, and functional in everyday life.  We want parents to feel seen, supported, appreciated for taking this leap of faithinto parenthood and like they are doing a good job.  Our products really help to make parent’s job easier by saving loads of laundry (bandana bibs and burp cloths) and providing mom and dad more “me time” by getting baby to sleep faster with our perfect swaddles! And, of course, we want to help babies be comfortable, looking good and happy!

What are some of the proudest moments you’ve had so far with Copper Pearl?

Oh man, that is a tough question, because we’ve had so many monumental moments in the 6+ years of being involved with Copper Pearl. We spend SOOO MUCH time on our product design efforts – coming out with new designs, producing new product lines, etc. When we see that you like the designs we produce by putting them in your nurseries, or see you posting about your baby in a new Copper Pearl product – that is SO, SO exciting and satisfying for us. It makes us feel appreciated that you have validated our hard work by spending your money on our products. We know how many options are out there so we feel so humbled and grateful that you trust us enough with your precious children and hard earned dollars.

Are there any exciting new products or projects in the pipeline that you can share with us?

Well, maybe! We have wanted for years to augment our soft goods with toys and fun on-the-go items that coordinate with our beautiful prints. Soon, we will be launching some adorable stuffed plush animals that we can’t wait to introduce you to! We know you will love the way their details coordinate with our popular prints, while also bringing a new level of play and fun to the Copper Pearl lineup! Hold please – you will be so excited for our new plush toy lines coming out this summer!
